Tim BKSDA Sumbar, tiba pada hari Selasa, 18 Januari 2022, pukul 14.00 WIB, dan melakukan koordinasi dengan Nagari, Polsek Lembah Melintang, identifikasi lokasi, pengecekan jejak, pemasangan kamera jebak, dan wawancara. Dari hasil identifikasi lokasi tersebut berada di Area Penggunaan Lainnya (APL) yang berupakan plasma PT. Sinar Halomoan dengan jarak 1,5 km dari Hutan Lindung yang dikelola KPHL. Pasaman Raya dan termasuk dalam bentang landscape Panti-Batang Gadis. Berdasarkan wawancara perekam adalah Sdr. Saing Siregar, (33 tahun) dan Fahmi Batubara (18 tahun) dan diposting oleh Dedi Lubis (45 tahun) diakun facebooknya.
Tim BKSDA Sumbar telah melakukan koordinasi dengan Pemerintah Daerah (Bupati dan Wali Nagari), Kepolisian dan Management Perkebunan serta Dinas Kehutanan Propinsi untuk melakukan langkah-langkah penyelamatan seperti menghentikan kegiatan pembersihan jalan, melakukan penggiringan dengan menggunakan meriam karbit selama 3 hari. Hasil pemantauan dari tanggal18-20 Januari 2022, tidak terlihat lagi harimau tersebut dan kemungkinan besar telah berpindah ke hutan lindung.
